Tom Clancy the best-selling author and co founder of Red Storm Entertainment, passed away in Baltimore hospital at age of 66.
It was confirmed by The New York Times via Twitter. The cause of death has not been revealed yet.
Tom Clancy wrotes the best selling books such as The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger and The Sum of All Fears all of it was adapted into Hollywood films.
In year 1996, Tom Clancy co-founded the game studio Red Storm Entertainment before publisher Ubisoft Entertainment purchased it for undisclosed sum in 2000.
Also Ubisoft franchised game under Clancy's name are: Rainbow Six, Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon, EndWar, H.A.W.X. and the upcoming game in 2014 the online shooter The Division.
"We are saddened to learn of Tom Clancy's passing and our condolences go out to his family," Ubisof stated via Facebook. "Tom Clancy was an extraordinary author with a gift for creating detailed, engrossing fictional stories that captivated audiences around the world."
"The teams at Ubisoft, especially at the Red Storm studio, are incredibly grateful to have collaborated with and learned from him, and we are humbled by the opportunity to carry on part of his legacy through our properties that bear his name," Ubisoft added.
