The long awaited ambitious online multiplayer mode of Grand Theft Auto will go live sometime today on both PlayStation Network and Xbox Live announced by Rockstar on its website.

Players should expect to receive small downloadable title update for the game for about 7 a.m. ET and 4 a.m. PT today. Once the patch is downloaded and installed, player can access GTA Online in Grand Theft Auto V menu. Here's what Rockstars says:

Access to Grand Theft Auto Online is free with your copy of Grand Theft Auto V. On October 1st there will be a small downloadable Title Update released on PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE. Upon installation of that Title Update, direct access to begin GTA Online will be unlocked in your GTAV game menu. You will be able to jump right into GTA Online via the 4th (bottom) slot in your GTAV character wheel. We’ve received many questions asking for a specific confirmation of what exact time GTA Online will be available but of course this is contingent on both Title Updates becoming available on each console’s network. As a general timeframe, we do expect the Title Update to become available on PSN and Xbox LIVE starting around 7AM ET tomorrow morning, and your best bet is to stay tuned throughout the day here at the Rockstar Newswire and by following us on Twitter and Facebook where we will be keeping everyone updated.

When the GTA Online goes live, Rockstar warned all the players that the servers may not be able to handle the extreme amount of traffic that the game will create. The estimated players to be log on to GTA Online is about two million players within first 24 hours. So don't expect that the online mode will run smooth and stable.

Rockstar also detailed the GTA Online microtransactions to reassure to players it wont be pay-to-win.

"To allay some concerns we’ve heard on this subject, we can assure you that the game is designed such that the option of purchasable GTA$ should not disrupt the playing field – and there are a few mechanics in place to help ensure that. All players still have to rank up with Reputation Points (RP) in order to get access to purchase high-end items. No one can begin GTA Online and simply spend a lot of money out of the gate to get a leg up. You will have to earn your stripes and play to unlock access to the aspirational clothes, guns and other items."

As always Rockstar Games loved playing games with their fans, in every GTA franchise there are always mysteries to solve, hidden clues, secrets and achievements. Rockstar Games put something new to make GTA V an epic game so every player can have some more fun, like paranormal myths to dig up, reappearance of old friends and easter eggs.

Duplicating cars

Customize any car as desired, then switch to a different character, drive by the character in the customized car, and hang out with him. Then, get out of your vehicle, and drive their customized car. When you return with the customized car after hanging out with the other character, there will be another of the same customized car. Get out of the car, and take the duplicated customized car. Then, switch back to the other character, and take the original customized car.

Infinite money

Swim or take a boat or jet ski to the following waypoint location on the map (far north-western area), then go to the ocean floor. There is a treasure box to the right of the sunken plane wing in this area that gives you $12,000 when collected. It may be hard to locate the treasure box at first. The closer you get to the treasure box, the more shiny and obvious it will become. After collecting the treasure box, switch characters, then change back, and the treasure box should reappear. Repeat this process as many times as desired to get an unlimited amount of money. If that method does not work, before diving to the treasure box on the ocean floor, quick save the game (just in case you drown). Then, grab the treasure box, and swim back up to the surface. Save the game again, then reload the saved game, and the treasure box will have respawned.

Easy money

All weapon upgrades free

While a mission is active, go to the gun shop, and buy all of the upgrades for every available weapon and some grenade. Once you have obtained all of the upgrades, leave the gun shop, and use one of the grenades to kill yourself. This will cause the mission to fail, and you will start the mission over. When the mission restarts, you will have all of your money back from the purchases in the gun shop. Go back to the gun store, and all the weapon upgrades will still have a checkmark. Repeat this process when new weapons become available.

Crashed UFO Easter Egg

Use a submarine, and go to the ocean floor at the northern edge of the map to see a crashed UFO.

Ice alien Easter Egg

During the police chase in the tutorial, do not follow the instructions, and instead go off the road. Before reaching the bridge, drive to the frozen river below. Directly under the bridge is an alien encased in ice.

Grand Theft Auto 4 Easter Eggs

Brucie Kibbutz from Grand Theft Auto 4 returns to Grand Theft Auto 5 on Bleeper (GTA’s equivalent to Twitter). Niko Bellic's old friend Packie McReary also returns to GTA 5. Franklin can help him during a heist, and he will join your crew for the remainder of the game.

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Easter Eggs

The early setting of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas returns in GTA V. The Grove Street families, the gang affiliated with the main protagonist of GTA: San Andreas Carl Johnson, also returns.

On one of the buildings in Grand Theft Auto V, you can see graffiti stating, "WELCOME BACK. We missed you last time." that welcomes players back to the sandbox of San Andreas after leaving for Liberty City in GTA IV.

Some old friends from GTA: San Andreas are referenced in Franklin's place. Look in the bedroom to find a poster for Mad Dog. Look on the floor to see that OG Loc made it with his own album.

L.A. Noire Easter Egg

Elysian Fields Co., the villainous construction company embroiled in the highway conspiracy in L.A. Noire appears in Los Santos. L.A. Noire obviously takes place in Los Angeles. GTA 5's Los Santos is a fictionalized version of L.A.

Secret map message Easter Egg

On the back of the exclusive Special Edition map, a secret message will appear when put under a UV light. The message reads as follows:

T.P.E – Trevor Philips Enterprises. Weaponry, narcotics, intimidation and casual wear. Lago Zan Cudo. Great Ocean, Highway north, through north Chumash, 0.5 miles past Raton Canyon. When guard rail ends, follow the dirt road down the docks. Bring $500,000 cash.

There are also additional secrets listed on the Special Edition map when put under a UV light.

Easy "Out Of Your Depth" achievement

Sharks spawn randomly in deep water. Go out into the ocean with a boat or jet ski, and watch the mini-map until it turns completely dark blue. Keep driving around until you see a red dot on the radar, which indicates a shark. Then, jump into the water, and wait until it kills you. It may take some time if the shark does not see you right away. Once you have been killed by the shark, you will get the "Out Of Your Depth" achievement. Additionally, sometimes the shark will even attack and destroy the boat or jet ski, which will also give you the achievement.

"Professional Gamer" sounds good huh? Well, many people are actually making career out of gaming professionally, to be exact they are making names in eSports professional gaming. Today eSports are getting more and more popular all over the world, it rises in a phenomenal growth. This led eSports to have a big events, competitive leagues, thousands of fans worldwide and lucrative prizes.

Do you know where eSports started? So, if you're unfamiliar with the history of eSports here is the brief summary of its history.

The Beginning:

1980's: Ever since the video gaming is invented, competitive gaming has existed along with video games. Even the earliest arcade games inspired some competition, competing along with friends to beat high scores. 
Beginning with Atari's Space Invader Tournament in 1980. It attracted over 10,000 participants, proving that there is great demand in video gaming even back then. By 1983, the U.S. Video Game Team has been created by the Twin Galaxies. It is an organization that is officially recognized world wide authority on all video games scores and world records.



The Rise Of The PC

1990's: The rise of PC gaming and along came with the first true eSports competitions. In general PC games and internet in particular open up a new ideas for competitive gaming. PC games could be designed for team play, while arcade games focused on skills and score for a single player. In a new level of gaming, team play games allowed for whole teams of players to compete against others and soon it became the backdrop of the eSports as we know today.


The pioneer of all gaming first person shooter (fps) tournaments was DOOM II Deathmatch '95, a tournament that is celebrating the release of this game, when at that time is the single most competitive gaming franchise. That was the first PC gaming tournament to be held in what is today and still following that format, whereas players compete at a location and play standardized equipment to prevent them from cheating.


Followed by the year 1997 Red Annihilation tournament of QUAKE one of considerable gaming instance in eSports drawing 2,000 participants. The winner will received a Ferrari owned by John Carmack the lead developer of QUAKE.


And just a few weeks later, the Cyberathlete Professional League (CPL), this is one of major league that has been founded. Later at that year, CPL announces it first tournament. By the next year, it was offering $15,000 prize money. CPL is one of the more prominent of many tournament during that period. 

Then, in 1998 Counter Strike burst onto the scene when Half-Life received over 10,000 hits for Counter Strike within first two weeks. 

That time, most eSports focused on fps, sports games and arcade style games, but in the late 90's real-time strategy (RTS) released. It is the breakout of the hit series "StarCraft: Blood War"

Unlike any other games, rts require careful thought, long-term planning and have been compared as modern version of chess. StarCraft almost nearly limitless strategic potential has become one of the driving forces of the eSports world.

The Phenomenal Growth of Esports

2000's-Present: Just like any other sports, eSports truly become popular, it draws a big crowd of fans, admirers and talented players. With the rise of both tournaments and games now become the back bone of the eSports world.


In the year 2000 the launch of World Cyber Games (WCG) and the Electronic Sports World Cup, both influences major international leagues that continue and held every year.

Major League Games (MLG) was launched in 2002 and it is now the largest and successful of all eSports leagues, featuring numerous games in a different types of genres, like fps to rts games.
Other major leagues includes in the recent years is an eSports tournament at Dreamhack, a massive Swedish computer festival with the attendees from all over the world. The Global StarCraft II (GSL), a South Korean League considered to be most admired StarCraft II competition. 

Then, a relatively new comer to world of eSports is the MOBA or Multiplayer Online Battle Arena. Based on the fan made Defense of the Ancients (DoTA), a mod for WarCraft III, another game from Blizzard Entertainment, the developers of StarCraft franchise.

Currently, the three biggest stand alone MOBA are Heroes of Newearth (HoN), Defense of The Ancients 2 (DoTA2) and League of Legends (LoL). 

The most popular MOBA is LoL, released in 2009, claiming that LoL is the most played video game in the world and with over 30 million players worldwide, tournament has been established and attracted thousands of viewers and offer million prizes.

2011 LoL tournament at Dreamhack is reported to had over 1.6 million viewers worldwide and by the following year, 2012 The LoL Season 2 World Championship Series attracted eight thousand live viewers and over 900,000 worldwide viewers and a prize pool of over five million dollars. By this year 2013 The LoL Season 3 World Championship will be held at Los Angeles, Staples Center, October 3. Over 10,000 people are expected to attend the final match and over 8.2 million spectators online. Riot the developer of League of Legends is boasting that the summary of total prize pool is $8 million with $1 million going to the championship team.

This, in turn, enabled gaming leagues to grow larger and more popular in which made gaming itself more and more competitive. As push-pull of this eSports industry, all of them worked on each other to create the eSports and professional gaming environment we know and we love today.

The Recognition

"Athletes" that's right, as of mid of July, 2013 professional gamers are now recognized officially as athletes by the U.S. government and with this recognition, international players can now play and participate in the U.S. tournaments without having trouble getting their visas. 

And now with that big wall has been removed and tournaments are getting bigger and better every year, who knows what might the future holds for professional gamers and the eSports Community? With so much money on the line, maybe someday eSports will earn a place like baseball or basketball as beloved sport and maintsream national pastime.
